Hormone regulation of rhizome development in tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) associated with proteomic changes controlling respiratory and amino acid metabolism

Abstract: A rhizomatous genotype of tall fescue ('BR') plants were treated with 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP, a synthetic cytokinin) or GA3 in hydroponic culture in growth chambers. Furthermore, comparative proteomic analysis of two-dimensional electrophoresis and mass spectrometry were performed to investigate proteins and associated metabolic pathways imparting increased rhizome number by BAP and rhizome elongation by GA3 KEY RESULTS: BAP stimulated rhizome formation while GA3 promoted rhizome elongation. Proteomic analys… Show more

“…The TCA cycle includes important approaches to plant synthetic amino acid, energy supply and different biological movement course [59]. Malate dehydrogenase (MDH) catalyzes the effect of NAD+ on NADH oxidation of malic acid was reproduced in mitochondrial matrix during TCA cycle [60].…”

“…It has been widely known that glycolysis and TCA cycle are vital pathways for energy supply, amino acid synthesis and various other biological processes in plants ( Fernie et al, 2004 ; Ma et al, 2016 ). As substrate of photosynthesis for carboxylation, plants grown at elevated CO 2 tended to accumulate the larger amount of non-structural carbohydrates ( Yu et al, 2012a ; Song et al, 2014 ).…”

“…Furthermore, hormonal metabolism of cool‐season grasses has not received great attention even though hormones play a pivotal role in regulating plant responses to abiotic stresses. The number of studies on hormonal metabolism of grasses under stress conditions is extremely limited and addresses mainly heat and drought stress (Alam et al., ; Krishnan & Merewitz, ; Li et al., ; Ma, Xu, Meyer, & Huang, ; Man, Bao, & Han, ). The small number of studies in this subject is understandable due to the highly complex nature of hormonal crosstalk in plants.…”
