Consequently, it is important for veterinarians to un­derstand the prerequisites for proper hoof trimming. Success­ful hoof trimming entails selecting the right animal, and using the correct equipment and method. When these things are in place, hoof trimming becomes an intervention that safeguards both the animal and the person conducting the hoof trimming.
