Abstract:Introduction. Traditionally, soft techniques of algebraic topology have found much use in the world of hard geometry. In recent years, in particular, the subject of symplectic topology (see [McS]) has arisen from important and interesting connections between symplectic geometry and algebraic topology. In this paper, we will consider one application of homotopical methods to symplectic geometry. Namely, we shall discuss some aspects of the homotopy theory of circle actions on symplectic manifolds. Because this … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
