Homogenization and effective properties of periodic thermomagnetoelectroelastic composites

Abstract: Using asymptotic homogenization, we derive the local problems and the corresponding homogenized coefficients of periodic thermomagnetoelectroelastic heterogeneous media. The theory is applied to obtain analytical expressions for all effective properties of an important class of periodic multilaminated composites. Universal relations involving homogenized thermal coefficients of two-phase laminated and fibrous piezoelectric/piezomagnetic periodic composites, with transversely isotropic constituents, are obtaine… Show more

“…Such type of constitutive law can be very useful (in extended form) in the case of multiphysics homogenization problems with additional fields like magnetic or electric (see for instance Bravo-Castillero et al, 2009). The second expression of (53) is considered as a linearized representation of the local dissipation.…”

“…Aboudi (2001) developed a computational method for coupled electro-magneto-thermo-elastic composites and Lee et al (2005) have proposed numerical and Eshelby-based analytical strategies for three phase electro-magneto-elastic composites. Piezoelectric composites (Berger et al, 2005(Berger et al, , 2006Maruccio et al, 2015), electro-magneto-thermo-elastic composites (Bravo-Castillero et al, 2009) and piezoelastic plates (Kalamkarov and Kolpakov, 2001) have been studied by using the periodic homogenization theory. A homogenization approach for studying piezoelectric composites with periodic and random microstructure was proposed by Spinelli and Lopez-Pamies (2014).…”
