“…However, these have been in discussed in the original publications that we cited above. It should be noted here that other modifications have been recently reported by Glomb, Gillery and their respective colleagues, some of which are present or expected to be found in human collagen, such as homocitrulline[34,35]. …”

“…Because uraemia is the main cause of increased carbamylation ( 12 ), and consequently of cHb formation, samples from 7 patients with increased blood urea (> 7.15 mmol/L) were assayed by both methods. Negative absolute and relative biases were evidenced in all samples with increased blood urea.…”

“…Thus, HCit may be considered a useful clinical marker in non-HD as well as in HD patients. In non-HD patients, HCit could be used for differentiating acute from chronic renal failure [12], and we could imagine that a cutoff HCit value may help clinicians to decide the most appropriate time for initiating HD therapy. However, this hypothesis has to be evaluated after additional clinical studies.…”

“…Quantification of serum HCit was performed by LC-MS/MS as previously described [12]. HCit concentrations were expressed as μmol HCit per mol, which has also been quantified by LC-MS/MS [17].…”
