Abstract:A ruthenium-catalyzed hydrogen transfer ester metathesis (HTEM) is reported that allows for the isomerization of a linear polyester such as polycaprolactone (PCL) without the need for any stoichiometric reagent, forming a novel type of co-polyester containing additional hexylene adipate (HA) repeating units. Mechanistic investigations show that the formation of the chemically modified polyester relies on a two-fold catalytic reaction; a HTEM via a hydrogen borrowing process and a concomitant transesterificatio… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
