“…28 While no studies to our knowledge have examined support for prohibiting e-cigarette use specifically in MUH, this concern aligns with a recent study using the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) survey, which found that current vapers were more likely to allow both vaping and smoking inside their homes than never users. 29 We also found lower support for e-cigarette-free policies among older individuals compared to 18-24 year old individuals. Although seemingly contradictory, it may be that older individuals are not exposed to e-cigarette use as frequently, and therefore may not perceive use in MUH as a problem.…”

“…In fact, studies have shown that parents were more likely to have smoke-free than vape-free home policies, which supports the perception that SHNV exposure is less harmful. 11 Because of this perception and the potential for harm, the findings reported by Islam et al are of critical importance. While association is not causation, this study is the first to describe the negative effects of SHNV exposure on respiratory symptoms.…”

“…Parents often have more relaxed ‘vape-free’ policies at home than ‘smoke-free’ policies 4 5. In a recent survey, smoking inside the home was allowed in 37.4% of homes of current and former smokers, while vaping inside the home was allowed in 60.4% of homes of vapers, as secondhand nicotine vape exposure was perceived to be less harmful than secondhand smoking 6.…”
