Holographic interferometric microscopy systems for the application on biological samples

Abstract: Holographic interferometric metrology allows a fast, non destructive and quantitative high resolution full field detection of optical path length changes. Furthermore, by utilization of modern CCD sensor technology and digital image processing algorithms an on-line application of these methods even on biological specimens is possible. In combination with a microscopic resolution this offers new possibilities for the detection of variations of shape, micro movements or refractive index changes e. g. for the mar… Show more

“…The phase information is of particular interest since it allows surface topography measurement with nanometer vertical resolution. Therefore, digital holography has been paid a widely attention in recent years [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] .The off-axis configurations, including the lensless Fourier transform and the Fresnel setups, are common configurations used to record digit holograms. One of the main advantages of the lensless Fourier transform holography is that the reconstructed intensity image is absolutely accurate [11][12] .…”

“…The advances in digital imaging devices such as CCD and CMOS cameras and in computational and data storage capacities have been central to the widening applications of digital holography. Digital holography has found many applications, the most typical being high-resolution deformation measurement [1] , shape measurement [1][2][3] , vibration analysis [4] , and holographic microscopy [5][6][7][8][9][10] . Recently there has been increasing interest in the applications of digital holography to the field of biological and MEMS microscopy [5][6][7] .…”
