Holographic interferometric microscope on the basis of a Bi_12TiO_20 crystal

Abstract: The applicability of cubic photorefractive crystals in which the recording can be fixed to holographic interferometric studies of microobjects is outlined. The possibility of observing the temporal behavior of the object by a method combining double exposure and real time interferometry is experimentally demonstrated.

“…Because of extremely large photoconductivity values [l, 21, sillenite crystals are suitable for many fast photorefractive applications, e.g. real time interferometry [3]. In comparison to BSO and BGO, crystals of BTO exhibit a distinctly smaller optical activity [4 to 61 which is favourable for many applications.…”

“…This technique has been used in Bi TiO for real-time double-exposure interferometry [91] and image subtraction [92]. For significantly long exposure, however, the complementary grating will decay, but can have a lifetime several orders of magnitude longer than the principal grating [93], [94].…”

“…Their strong photochromic effect, high photosensitivity and high carrier mobility which permit achievements of fast response time are of special interest for real-time holography, optical-phase conjugation, amplification of weak light signals, image processing, etc. [1][2][3][4][5]. The doping of these crystals with different impurities change their physical and chemical properties.…”
