Holistic Approach to Subsea Integrity Management & Reliability and their Application to Greenfield and Brownfield Projects

Abstract: Industry momentum in recent years has been towards the implementation of risk-based integrity management (IM) programs for entire subsea systems (where subsea systems emcompass all hardware from the sand face downhole, to the top of the riser, inclusive of system interfaces, as defined in API RP 17N). This is evident from industry initiatives such as the Subsea Systems Integrity Management JIP (SURF IM JIP) and proposed revisions to industry codes of practice such as ISO 13628/12 "Dynamic Risers for Floating P… Show more

“…Asset management (or facilities management) has been identified as a key aspect of the oil and gas sector, which ensures longevity, life extension, serviceability, and aging assessment, among others, for these offshore facilities (or assets) [ 33 , 34 , 35 , 36 , 37 , 38 , 39 , 40 , 41 ]. However, recent issues that have challenged the offshore industry include the structural integrity of offshore assets [ 42 , 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 ]; offshore asset monitoring [ 48 , 49 , 50 , 51 ]; asset life extension [ 52 , 53 , 54 ]; risk assessments [ 55 , 56 , 57 , 58 ]; health, safety, and environment (HSE) [ 59 , 60 , 61 , 62 , 63 ]; monitoring indicators [ 64 , 65 , 66 , 67 , 68 , 69 , 70 ] and asset management [ 71 , 72 , 73 , 74 , 75 ]. With these systems running well, oil corporations and operators can achieve their goals of having sustainable oil exploration, and related activities.…”
