Historical review of early researches on mitogenetic radiation: from discovery to cancer diagnostics

Abstract: The review is devoted to the experimental studies of mitogenetic radiation (weak UV-chemiluminescence of biological objects) conducted between 1923 and 1948 years. In this period UV-radiation of various biological objects (so called inductors) and its influence on mitotic rate of other biological objects (detectors) were investigated very actively. Very promising results were obtained including the finding of the peptide tumor marker in blood, which was called cancer quencher due to its ability to quench UV-ch… Show more

“…At the same time, we attrib-Austin Publishing Group uted, in full accordance with the approach of A. Einstein, such a glow of biological objects to omnidirectional -spontaneous radiation. Variations in its intensity, including the manifestation of malignant mitosis, were repeatedly measured, including in the form of mitogenetic rays [44], and by AG Gurvich himself. It is important to emphasize two things.…”

“…However, other researchers initially failed to duplicate his results, so his discovery was largely forgotten until several years later. Then, as technology improved, not only were Gurwitsch's results validated, they were expounded upon [84]. Modern research has continued to reveal evidence of the significance of biophoton emission.…”
