Histopathological and immunohistochemical profiles of pulp tissues in immature dogs’ teeth to two recently introduced pulpotomy materials

Abstract: Objective The pulpal response to Hoffmann’s Pulpine mineral (PMIN) and Pulpine NE (PNE) was compared to mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) when used as pulpotomy materials in immature permanent teeth in dogs. Materials and methods Immature premolars were randomly divided according to the observation period into three equal groups (n = 24) (10 days, 30 days, and 90 days) then furtherly subdivided into 3 subgroups according to the material used. Histopathologi… Show more

“…The results of pH values are collected in table (3). At 24 hours and one week, the greatest pH value was recorded in PMIN group , followed by MTA group, while the least value was recorded in PNE group with no statistically significant difference between the MTA and PMIN groups, but a statistically significant difference was found between the PNE group and other groups (P<0.05).…”

“…Because of its outstanding biocompatibility and capacity to build dentin bridge with minimal inflammation, MTA is the gold standard material applied for VPT [2]. Unfortunately, it showed poor handling characteristics, long setting time and crown discoloration [3].…”

“…Absorbance of each well at a wavelength of 570 nm using an ELISA plate reader spectrophotometer (ELX-800, Biotek, USA) was recorded. 24 For Tideglusib and positive control groups, the following formula determined the cell viability percentage [Mean OD of treatment group/Mean OD of negative control group] × 100% 1,2 . Cytotoxicity responses were scored as: severe cytotoxic ≤30%, moderate cytotoxic 30%-60%, mild cytotoxic 60%-90% and non-cytotoxic ≥90%.…”

“…Microorganisms can penetrate the root canal system quickly through exposed dentinal tubules in the presence of necrotic pulp owing to lack of pulp defensive function. 1,2 Odontoblasts responsible for pulp protection by secretion of extracellular dentin matrix which protect the pulp against external stimuli. 3 However, teeth with vital pulps demonstrate greater resistance to bacterial invasion.…”

“…Propolis is commonly applied in veterinary medicine for its antibacterial (El-Tayeb et al, 2019;Przybyłek andKarpiński, 2019), antifungal (de Mendonça et al, 2015), antiviral (Alp, 2018), antiparasitic (Anjum et al, 2019), antioxidant (Torres et al, 2018), anti-inflammatory (Machado et al, 2016), antitumor (Doğan et al, 2020), immunomodulatory (Shvarzbeyn andHuleihel, 2011), antiulcer (da Silva et al, 2018), local anesthetic (Özdemir et al, 2022), and cytotoxic (Bonamigo et al, 2017) actions as shown in Figure 2. Moreover, propolis enhances wound healing (Abu-Seida, 2015), dentinogenesis after pulp capping (Saleh et al, 2016;Abo El-Mal et al, 2021), and hard-tissue deposition as well as soft-tissue formation inside the necrotic dental pulp in dogs (El-Tayeb et al, 2019;Abdelsalam et al, 2020;Abo EL Wafa et al, 2021;Mohamed et al, 2023). Machado et al, 2016;Torres et al, 2018;Anjum et al, 2019;Doğan et al, 2020;Özdemir et al, 2022).…”
