Histomorphological Study of the Major Lymphoid Tissues in Indigenous Ducklings of Bangladesh

Abstract: A histomorphological study was performed in the major lymphoid tissues (thymus, bursa of Fabricus and spleen) of the six 21-day-old indigenous ducklings of Bangladesh by H & E staining method during the period from March to May 2011. In the present study, it was observed that the thymus was enclosed by a thin connective tissue capsule. Numerous fine septa of connective tissue originated from the capsule and divided the organ into incompletely separated lobules. Each lobule organized into a peripheral corte… Show more

“…The connective tissue originated from capsule and extended all the way into lobes dividing them into indistinct lobules. This concurs with the results of Lochi et al, (2014) and Singh et al, (2010) in Chicken and Sultana et al, (2011) in ducklings. In the thymus of guinea fowl, the capsule and trabeculae were made up of mainly collagen ( Fig.…”

“…It appeared as lightly stained zone in the centre of the lobe. This is similar with that of Sultana et al, (2011) in ducklings.…”

“…The spleen, a lymphocyte predominated organ, is a major site of antigen processing and antibody production in mature birds, dependent on both the thymus and bursa of Fabricius (Indu et al, 2000). It contains lymphatic nodules and the white pulp within which small-, medium-and large-sized lymphocytes and plasma cells were distributed diffusely; however, its red pulp region is mainly occupied by erythrocytes (Sultana et al, 2011). Red pulp region contains several erythrocytes and this specific region is mainly un-reactive to these antibodies suggesting that these region lacks endogenous expression of both TRPV1 and TRPV4.…”
