HispaSim: A web application for satellite link budget optimization and management

Abstract: Abstract-Adequate link budget tools are required by satellite operators to generate optimized transmission plans that satisfies customer diverse demands using transponder resources (power and bandwidth) efficiently. Satellite operator has to face with a number of communication scenarios depending on the service. These scenarios cover from forward links used for DTH (Directto-Home) to bidirectional networks where both forward and returns can share the transponder resources. Moreover, a transition from desktop i… Show more

“…To determine the SNR of the baseband signal when the preamble is detected, we need to calculate the sensitivity of the satellite-based ADS-B receiver using the link budget without changing the transmitter power. L d is the free-space propagation loss of the signal and is given by [16,17]…”

“…[27] introduces a gravitational search algorithm based on the law of gravity and mass interactions to aid in a generic link budget process for satellite-to-ground link. Some works as [28], aim to generate flexible link budget tools, making a modular application by dividing the model, the database, base stations and its administration; however, being modular and managed hinders its use as it becomes unfriendly to the end user. Other works such as [29] assess described models to verify their reliability, in this case, the model related to ESA/ASTRIUM n°4500082825, specifically designed for radio frequencies in wireless environments.…”
