Experimental evidence supports a role for the dentate gyrus and CA3 subregions of the hippocampus in pattern separation (Wilson et al, 2006;Creer et al, 2010;Wu et al, 2015;Ces et al, 2018;Ray et al, 2018;Smith et al, 2020).
