Abstract:Episodic memories are thought to be stabilized through the coordination of cortico-hippocampal activity during sleep. However, the timing and mechanism of this coordination remain unknown. To investigate this, we studied the relationship between hippocampal reactivation and slow-wave sleep UP and Down states of the retrosplenial cortex (RTC) and prefrontal cortex (PFC). We found that hippocampal reactivation are strongly correlated with specific cortical states. Reactivation occurred during sustained cortical … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
