Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) is a major mortality factor in Brazil and worldwide. Several have demonstrated that the practice of aerobic and resistance exercises occurs after several weeks of reduction, in the pressure levels of patients with systemic arterial hypertension (SAH), being, therefore, non-medication forms of treatment for hypertensive patients. In the last decades or in resistance training (RT), it was adopted by the scientific community as an important tool to improve several systems, including the cardiovascular system and, consequently, the deleterious effects of SAH. However, in the literature still recorded, incidents such as greater reductions in systemic blood pressure in patients with SAH are achieved in isolated RT or RT associated with aerobic exercises, known as Combined Training (CT). Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare how chronic blood pressure responses recorded in patients with SAH after a few weeks of RT or CT. To this end, a literature review was carried out where articles published between the years 2014 to 2019 were analyzed. The collected studies used 8 or more weeks of intervention and investigations involving analysis of pressure responses in mmHg. The results revealed after the analysis process, that TR reduces the reduction in blood pressure levels for use in CT, with no significant difference for both methods. Therefore, so far, studies indicate that both RT and CT seem to promote the same levels of reduction in systemic blood pressure in patients with SAH.
