Abstract:A hipernatremia é um distúrbio hidroeletrolítico definido por concentração sérica de sódio superior a 145mEq/L, sendo considerada grave quando superior a 160mmol/L. É uma condição rara em recém-nascidos, causando sintomas predominantemente neurológicos, que pode ocorrer pela alta ingestão de sódio, perda excessiva de líquidos ou diminuição da ingestão de líquidos.
