HINKEL kinesin, ANP MAPKKKs and MKK6/ANQ MAPKK, which phosphorylates and activates MPK4 MAPK, constitute a pathway that is required for cytokinesis in Arabidopsis thaliana

Abstract: Cytokinesis is regulated to ensure the precise partitioning of cytoplasm and duplicated chromosomes to daughter cells. The NACK-PQR pathway, which includes NACK1 kinesin-like protein (KLP) and a mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascade, plays a key role in cytokinesis in tobacco cells. Although HINKEL/AtNACK1 (HIK) KLP, ANP MAP kinase kinase kinases (MAPKKKs) and MKK6/ ANQ MAP kinase kinase (MAPKK) have been identified independently as regulators of cytokinesis in Arabidopsis thaliana, the involvement o… Show more

“…ANPs have been shown to functionally interact with proteins that are required for cytokinesis and thought to control stability and turnover of microtubules (Takahashi et al, 2010;Komis et al, 2011). Whether ANPs localize to the phragmoplast is not yet known.…”

“…In addition to negatively regulating plant defense responses, MPK4 is also important for cytokinesis and plant development (Beck et al, 2010;Kosetsu et al, 2010;Takahashi et al, 2010). The mpk4-2 mutant exhibits increased root width and has abnormal root hairs.…”

“…The Arabidopsis MKK4/MKK5-MPK3/MPK6 cascades play important roles in the regulation of plant development and biotic stress (Asai et al, 2002;Wang et al, 2007). The Arabidopsis MKK6-MPK4/MPK11 cascades directly regulate cytokinesis and mitosis (Beck et al, 2010(Beck et al, , 2011Takahashi et al, 2010). MKK7 leads to activation of plant basal and systemicacquired resistance in Arabidopsis .…”
