Highly stable electrochromic and electrofluorescent dual-switching polyamide containing bis(diphenylamino)-fluorene moieties

Abstract: A novel semi-aromatic polyamide with bis(diphenylamino)-fluorene moieties was designed and synthesized, which exhibited highly stable electrochromic/electrofluorescent dual-switching properties.

“…The BCT‐1 film possessed a strong absorption at 333 nm in the neutral form; this was due to the π–π* transitions of the TPA group. When the applied potentials of the BCT films increased from 0 to 1.6 V at the same voltage intervals, a new absorption peak of the BCT‐1 film appeared at 778 nm; this was caused by the oxidation of the TPA group . As a result of this electrochromism, the color of the polymer film changed from pale yellow to green.…”

“…Multi‐color electrochromic devices can be readily fabricated through molecular design and functional control. It is worthwhile mentioning that some fluorescent triphenylamine‐based polymers have recently been designed and prepared . The resulting polymers exhibit an exciting electrochromic and electrofluorescent dual‐switching behavior, which suggests their promising applications in displays and sensors.…”

“…prepared copolyamides with improved solubility and good thermal stability by utilizing a four‐component copolymerization process, but the processing and mechanical strength of the polymer was not reported . On the other hand, extended applications of the high‐performance aramids in technological fields, such as photoluminescent, ion‐exchange, reverse osmosis, and optically active materials have been studied by many scientists …”
