“…Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)-specific aptamers ARC126 and ARC127, developed for the treatment of pathogenesis of proliferative retinopathies, have been successfully tested in a transgenic mouse disease model. Inhibition of PDGF receptor binding by aptamers led to reduction of Lewia lung carcinoma vascularity (12) as was observed for VEGF-binding aptamers in an experimental Wilms tumor model (13).
