“…As dyes absorbing in the near-infrared (NIR), hyperporphyrins are clearly of interest in photomedicine, for example, as photosensitizers in photodynamic therapy. 9 13 Protonated porphyrins have been used as sensors for gases such as ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and sulfur dioxide, 14 , 15 while H 2 [TAPP] has also been used as a building block for dye-sensitized solar cells. 16 18 Porphyrin protonation has also been used for pH 19 , 20 and anion sensing 21 and even for modulating the optical properties of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs).…”

“…For TAPP film ( Figure 6 b), no remarkable change in position of bands with CO 2 exposure; only a broadening of the Soret band was detected, which might be the result of the enlargement of the aggregated form of the porphyrins in film [ 24 ]. When TAPP was exposed to H 2 S and HCl, both Soret bands were blue shifted of 22 nm, while with NO 2 it broadened with bathochromic shift of 25 nm.…”

“…Researchers reported porphyrin films with various functional groups to detect H 2 S gas at room temperature with [ 22 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 ] using optical waveguide but the results and experimental performance are deficient in consistence. Therefore, in this work, we consolidate the experimental performing conditions including film width and thickness that was controlled by film fabrication velocity and solution concentration; laser light wavelength (670 nm), gas concentration was also unified to keep the only possible different variable is the influence of functional groups.…”

“…A variety of gas sensors such as electrochemical [2,3], piezoelectric [4], metal oxide semiconductor-based [5][6][7], micro-electromechanical based system [8], and optical waveguide (OWG) sensors [9,10] have been developed to detect H 2 S gas.…”
