Highly OrderedTiO2Macropore Arrays as Transparent Photocatalysts

Abstract: Highly ordered transparent TiO2macropore arrays were synthesized via a simple glass-clamping method at room temperature. The as-synthesized TiO2macropore arrays show high transmittance in the visible light region and can be used as transparent photocatalysts for degradation of organic dyes.

“…The wide range of applications for TCO films in electronic devices has generated great interest in understanding the growth and characterization of these materials. These applications include flat-panel displays, low-e windows, thin-film solar cells, electrochromic devices, electromagnetic-shielding coatings, antennas for cars, radar protection for fighter planes, and heated windows [180,[270][271][272][273]. Below, we will discuss some of these applications of TiO 2 as an effective TSO material.…”

“…Thin-film transistors or field-effect transistors (FETs) based on TOSs have attracted considerable attention for their good transparency and high field-effect mobility [180,[271][272][273][274]. Most of the high-mobility oxide semiconductors show n-type conduction, and only a limited number of oxides exhibit p-type conduction with acceptable hole mobility.…”

“…Zheng et al synthesized rutile and anatase TiO 2 mesoporous single crystals with diverse mophologies by silica-templated hydrothermal method [19]. Dong et al prepared highly ordered transparent TiO 2 macropore arrays via a glass-clamping method and investigated the potential application in degradation of organic dyes [20]. However, the general synthesis usually involved complicated multistep to obtain porous skeleton.…”

“…At present, there are some methods employed to remove benzene such as microbial degradation [1,2], adsorption [3][4][5][6][7], catalytic oxidation [8][9][10][11][12][13][14], and so forth, among which photocatalytic degradation of benzene by TiO 2 has attracted wide attention [11][12][13][14]. This is because TiO 2 can degrade many toxic substances under mild conditions and cannot cause secondary pollution [15][16][17][18], besides being quite easy to operate, making it become a simple way to remove poisonous gases indoors. But as nano-size TiO 2 powder is inclined to aggregate to clusters and hard to be fixed, if being directly doped into coatings to paint walls or furnitures, it is very easy to fall off.…”
