Highly Linear Bipolar Transconductor For Broadband High-Frequency Applications with Improved Input Voltage Swing

Abstract: Abstract-An all n-p-n highly linear wide-bandwidth bipolar transconductor (G m ) stage is presented based on a variation of Caprio's Quad. The high-frequency (HF) linearity of the improved G m cell is examined by a Volterra analysis. The improved G m cell has a higher input voltage swing range than other approaches.

“…Caprio's Reduce the even order using a Volterra series analysis [21], the high-frequency linearity of the improved bipolar transconductor (gm) cell can be compared to the resistor degeneration and Caprio's Quad. The third-order intermodulation components (IM3) of the output voltage at frequency f+2Df can be expressed using a Volterra series analysis as follows:…”

“…The relevance of the 10.7-MHz bandpass filter design is emphasized in [10], which presents a High-Q bandpass filter boasting an impressive 87 dB dynamic range at the same frequency. In the domain of bandpass filter designs, various current-controlled and balanced designs have been explored, as evident in [12][13][14]. In this evaluation, let's meticulously assess their performance, advantages, and drawbacks, offering a critical analysis of their potential applications.…”

“…However, each design presents its unique trade-offs. For instance, [12] enhances linearity and minimizes distortion but demands a complex design and may be sensitive to temperature variations. In contrast, [13] optimizes bandwidth and stability but may be more susceptible to component variations.…”
