Highly Functional Acyclic Xeno Nucleic Acids

Keiji Murayama,
Hikari Okita,
Hiroyuki Asanuma

Abstract: In this account, we discuss applications of artificial nucleic acids, acyclic threoninol nucleic acid (aTNA) and serinol nucleic acid (SNA). Seesaw gate and hybridization chain reaction (HCR) circuits composed of left-handed d-aTNA operate correctly. These left-handed circuits are orthogonal to right-handed d-DNA, d-RNA, and l-aTNA, suppressing interference between the circuits. SNA, which does not have a helical preference, can be used as an interface between right- and left-handed oligomers, resulting in sel… Show more

“…For example, the creation of specific structures by DNA oligomers is a typical example. Murayama et al in their recent review discuss the function of acyclic xeno nucleic acids [306]. They envision the potential for the synthesis of artificial genomes and construction of DNA nanostructures and na- Functional units, such as catalysts, may be incorporated into the bionanospace and express biological-like functions.…”

“…Humanity has developed those elemental technologies. Organic chemistry [4-8], inorganic chemistry [9-13], coordination chemistry [14-18], polymer chemistry [19][20][21][22][23], material chemistry [24-28], and biochemistry [29][30][31][32][33] are still being developed as creating units or substances. Methodologies such as self-assembly by supramolecular chemistry [34][35][36][37] are used to bring them in organization.…”
