Highly Efficient Reduction of 4‐Nitrophenol by Cu Nanoparticle Decorated Graphdiyne

Abstract: Catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) to 4-aminophenol (4-AP) over high-performance and stable metal nanoparticle catalyst is highly desirable. This study experimentally demonstrated that graphdiyne (GDY), an all-carbon two-dimensional material composed of two hybrid carbon atoms (sp and sp 2 ), can uniformly disperse copper nanoparticles through simple microwave reduction and has excellent 4-NP reduction ability.Cu/GDY shows an extraordinary reaction rate constant of 0.9984 min À 1 , Moreover, the catal… Show more

“… 35 In addition, Cu/graphdiyne material prepared by Li's group also exhibits high catalytic ability for rapid reduction of 4-NP within 3 min. 36 These literature show that the transition metal nanomaterials also have a good catalytic effect on the 4-NP reduction reaction.…”

“…Its solubility in water systems and its stability facilitates its accumulation, causing damage to the blood, kidneys, liver and nervous system of humans and animals [11][12][13]. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA) has listed 4-NP as one of the 114 priority organic pollutants and The China National Environmental Monitoring Center considers it a priority control, with 60 ppb being the maximum content of 4-NP in direct drinking water [1,14].…”

“…6,7 Hydrogen is also used in the reduction of several organic compounds, such as hazardous 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), an environmental pollutant, 8 particularly a major contaminant of water resources. 9 Among them, organic wastewater containing 4-nitrophenol has a number of major issues, 10,11 including a protracted period of pollution, a huge amount of discharge, substantial damage, a high level of toxicity, and a treatment process that is incredibly challenging. 4-Aminophenol is the main intermediate for paracetamol, and major commodity chemicals (acebutolol, ambroxol, and sorafenib) used extensively in the production of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and polymers.…”
