Highly Efficient Mesoporous Carbonaceous CeO2 Catalyst for Dephosphorylation

Abstract: Phosphorus is fast becoming a critical element, as the global supply and demand are reaching unsustainable levels. Herein, the synthesis, characterization, and applicability of a novel biomass-derived mesoporous carbonaceous material decorated with CeO 2 (CeO 2 -S400) as an efficient catalyst for the dephosphorylation of 4-nitrophenyl phosphate disodium salt hexahydrate are reported. The presence and distribution of CeO 2 are evidenced by ind… Show more

“…37 The FTIR spectra of synthesized cerium oxide nanoparticles (β-CDs@CeO 2 NPs) show a weak, sharp peak near 3336 cm −1 , which indicates the −OH stretching of adsorbed water on the surface or Ce−OH stretching vibration. 38 The appearance of the peaks at 2200 and 1520 cm −1 are assigned to the sp 3 hybridized C−H stretching and bending modes of vibrations, respectively. The peak appears at a low frequency below about 1000 cm −1 ascribed to the metal oxide bond formation.…”
