Highly Efficient Indirect Hydration of Olefins to Alcohols Using Superacidic Polyoxometalate-Based Ionic Hybrids Catalysts

Abstract: Improving the catalytic efficiency in the hydration of olefins to alcohols is an important yet challenging issue in acid catalysis. Herein, a series of novel superacidic polyoxometalate-based ionic hybrids were prepared and employed as catalysts for highly efficient indirect hydration of olefins to corresponding alcohols. Several characterization techniques such as FT-IR spectra, XRD, SEM, and 31 P MAS NMR spectroscopy were performed to characterize the structures of these superacid hybrids and their acid prop… Show more

“…That is to say, beyond a certain catalyst loading, further increasing the dosages of catalyst is considered to be unnecessary, similar to the reaction phenomenon reported previously. 63 For comparison, the activities of Cu/MIL-101, Pd/MIL-101, the mixture of Cu/MIL-101 and Pd/MIL-101, and Cu–Pd-MIL-101 synthesized prepared without high-intensity ultrasound irradiation were also measured (Figure 6D). Clearly, all these catalysts show much lower catalytic activities than Cu–Pd@MIL-101 under the same condition, giving 5%, 0%, 18%, and 20% yields of 1,4-diphenylbuta-1,3-diyne after 48 h of reaction, respectively.…”

“…Recently, polyoxometalate (POM)‐based ionic liquid (PIL), an organic–inorganic hybrid material, has been successfully prepared by combining ILs and heteropoly anions, and it has many unique properties, such as strong acidity, high thermal stability, negligible volatility, and virtually unlimited tunability 21,22 . Especially, some PILs with special functional groups can serve as flame‐retardant synergists for polymer composites 23‐25 .…”
