Highly efficient continuous-wave and mode-locking operation of a diode-pumped Nd:ASL disordered crystal laser

Abstract

We report on high power and high efficiency continuous-wave and passive mode-locking operation of a diode-pumped Nd:ASL disordered crystal laser. In the CW regime, the obtained maximum output power is 9.05 W with a slope efficiency of 60.05% regarding to the absorbed pump power, and dual-wavelength spectrum of 1050.08 and 1052.40 nm is observed. In the femtosecond ML regime, 519 fs pulses with a pulse repetition rate of 90.4 MHz and an output power of 0.75 W are obtained, and the mode-locked spectrum is centered at 1052.15 nm with the bandwidth of 2.46 nm.
