Highly Effective Opening of Epoxides with Aromatic Amines in Presence of β-Cyclodextrin in Water

Abstract

This paper reports a simple, mild, and convenient method to synthesize β-amino alcohols. These β-amino alcohols were achieved in excellent yields (80-96 %) by ring-opening reaction of oxiranes with aromatic amines catalyzed by β-cyclodextrin at 30 ºC in water. β-cyclodextrin as the catalyst greatly accelerated the reactions and can be recovered and reused.Keywords: Oxiranes, β β β β β-Cyclodextrin, β β β β β-Amino alcohols, Ring-opening Asian Journal of Chemistry; Vol. 30, No. 5 (2018), 1165-1170 to attempt ring opening of aromatic epoxides with aromatic amines in the presence of β-cyclodextrin in water.
