Highly clustered scale-free networks

Abstract: We propose a model for growing networks based on a finite memory of the nodes. The model shows stylized features of real-world networks: power law distribution of degree, linear preferential attachment of new links and a negative correlation between the age of a node and its link attachment rate. Notably, the degree distribution is conserved even though only the most recently grown part of the network is considered. This feature is relevant because real-world networks truncated in the same way exhibit a power-… Show more

“…The limit case = 1 of the KE model is the BA model. The limit case = 0 is a model with high clustering but large path length: in fact, as a function of the system size, C quickly converges to a constant value, whereas L increases linearly [30]. (3) Activation and deactivation of nodes.…”

“…The former means that the number of nodes in the network increases with time and the latter stipulates that the probability for a new node to be connected to an existing node depends on the number of links that this node already has. A number of other models of scale-free networks have been proposed (see, for example, [10]). …”

“…To model connections of consumers, six network models proposed in the research area of complex networks are adopted: a Regular model, Random model [12], WS model [13], BA model [14], KE-1 model [15], and KE-2 model [16]. In this study, the six models are introduced to express the connection of consumers under the condition; the number of nodes is set to 1000 and the number of links is set to 3000.…”
