Highly Birefringent, Low-Loss, and Near-Zero Flat Dispersion ENZ Based THz Photonic Crystal Fibers

Abstract: In this paper, we present and compare two experimentally feasible photonic crystal fiber (PCF) designs (Type-I and Type-II) which ensure near-zero flattened dispersion with ultra-high phase and group birefringence at THz frequencies. Both structures are based on a subset of a triangular array of circular air-holes, which define the cladding of the PCF and a central elliptical air-hole which breaks the symmetry of the structure, thus introducing high levels of birefringence. Additionally, we investigate the pos… Show more

“…Dispersion curve of the proposed PCF1 (S-KPCF) and PCF2 (C-KPCF) along X-Axis and Y-Axis has been shown in Fig 13. The figure describes that for S-KPCF the dispersion curve shows that the values of the dispersion are near zero and almost flat. The C-KPCF dispersion curve is also near zero and flat [18].…”

“…As photonic information technology continues to develop, hollow PCF and multi-core PCF with different structures appear in different application fields, and PCF has become a research hotspot in the field of optics [18][19][20][21]. Because of its special optical guiding mechanism, PCF has advantages over ordinary single-mode fiber, such as infinite single mode, dispersion adjustable, large mode field, high nonlinearity, and high birefringence [22][23][24][25].…”

“…Various THz waveguides have been recently reported, including polymer fibers [11][12][13][14][15][16][17], metal tube waveguides [18], metal wire waveguides [19], and so on. The polymer fibers can achieve low loss and good flexibility.…”

“…The polymer fibers can achieve low loss and good flexibility. The types of THz fibers include solid-core fibers [16], hollow-core fibers [11][12][13][14][15], and porous-core fibers [17]. Among them, the hollow-core fibers have attracted a lot of research interest due to the low loss and easy inner modification with functional materials.…”
