Highlights of IAU Symposium No. 167

Abstract: The talks at this IAU Symposium have illustrated the spectacular development which has taken place in the last decade in the field of array detectors for astronomy. Just a few years ago it was possible to speak of two-D detectors for the UV-red wavelength range only.
