Abstract:The Nitroso entity, in its long history, has seen diverse applications in Chemistry, Biology and Medicine. In numerous chemical reactions it has been considered mainly as an electrophile. Its less radiant side, that of a nucleophile, has attracted limited attention. Discernible cases of its nucleophilic character and its potential are highlighted herein.
