Higher derivative corrections to Wess-Zumino and tachyonic actions in type II super string theory

Abstract: We evaluate in detail the string scattering amplitude to compute different interactions of two massless scalars, one tachyon and one closed string RamondRamond field in type II super string theory. In particular we find two scalar field and two tachyon couplings to all orders of α ′ up to on-shell ambiguity. We then obtain the momentum expansion of this amplitude and apply this infinite number of couplings to actually check that the infinite number of tachyon poles of S-matrix element of this amplitude for the … Show more

“…Hence, RR in (−1/2, −1/2) picture for brane-anti brane system must carry σ 3 CP matrix. We have also discussed in [27] that for non-BPS branes in (-1) picture there has to be another extra coefficient so that RR in (-1) picture for the non-BPS branes does carry σ 3 σ 1 CP matrix. Picture changing operator (PCO) also carries σ 3 CP factor.…”

“…Among other things, one of our goals of this paper is to actually find out RR couplings in asymmetric picture. We intend not to write down the actions that have been explored, and would rather read off some of the EFT methods and their effective actions from [27].…”

“…This method consists in working with BPS configurations in the deformed Yang-Mills lagrangian [36] and it is due to Koerber and Sevrin. Actually, a complete low energy description of D-branes not only depends on the DiracBorn-Infeld lagrangian (which already describes interactions between open and closed strings), but also on the Wess-Zumino lagrangian (which considers the interactions between open strings and the Ramnod-Ramond sector of closed strings; see, for example, the introduction of [37] for a recent review on the subject and references [38,39] for several attempts with non-BPS branes.). A revival on S-matrix calculations to determine the D-brane low energy effective lagrangian terms (besides the pure gauge field ones) and also to determine the Wess-Zumino lagrangian terms is been going on this year [40,41].…”
