High-throughput and reliable determination of 13 haloacetic acids and dalapon in water and evaluation of control strategies

Abstract: A simple, fast, highly-sensitive and selective method for the simultaneous determination of 13 haloacetic acids and dalapon in water was developed and applied to evaluate two strategies to control the concentrations of the target analytes in water.

“…Large volume injection (200 μL) with LC-HRMS was used by Postigo et al, for a new high-throughput method for determining 13 HAAs and 2,2-dichloropropanoic acid in drinking water. 169 Only 16 min was required for analysis; quantification limits were <1 μg/L for most, and no extraction was required. Carbonyl DBPs were the focus of a FT-ICR-MS method by Liu et al, who used a chemical derivatization (Girard's reagent) with isotope labeling to distinguish carbonyl compounds and carbonyl DBPs before and after ozonation, chlorination, and chloramination.…”
