Abstract:Due to the excessive dependence of human activities on fossil fuels, the current global average temperature is already 1.09°C higher than pre-industrial levels. There are many studies in the field of global carbon emissions (Lin & Du, 2015;Meng et al., 2018). Without deep emission reductions, limiting global warming to 1.5°C will be impossible. That 0.5°C difference between 1.5°C and 2°C indicates that 65 million people will experience extreme heat waves every year (Pörtner et al., 2022). With the frequent occ… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
