High-temperature abrasion of refractories

Abstract

Under the microscope a specimen of combined antioxidant heated at 1400~ exhibited finely dispersed muilite and colorless glass phase with RI = 1.505 • 0.003, and also corundum and silicon. On the x-ray patterns, in addition to lines for these phases, we noted lines confirming the presence of small amounts of =-cristobalite. The absorption bands typical of corundum and mullite at 422, 450, 600, 640 cm -I were noted in the IR-spectra.These results indicate that it is possible to use combined antioxidant of the proposed composition in graphite bodies, including those based on periclase.
