“…Similar to results of Koyama et al 18 , significant improvement of joint ROM was not found at the final follow-up in this study. For comparison, Sakai et al 8 have reported a long term follow-up of dome osteotomy for acetabular dysplasia due to DDH. With a minimum follow-up of 25 years, 21 of 59 (36%) hips converted to THA at a mean of 18 years (range, 2.5–25 years).…”

“…By making a dome shape pelvic osteotomy, the resulted acetabular roof will match with the sphericity of the femoral head, thus a higher joint contact area is obtained. 7 , 8 Simultaneous advancement of the greater trochanter is also possible through this technique. Here we report the treatment outcome of dome osteotomy combined with greater trochanter advancement for sequelae of Perthes' disease.…”

“…These include mainly demographic or independent preoperative factors such as advanced age 27,33,34 , low preoperative functional hip scores 26,35 , a body mass index of >25 (kg/m 2 ) 36 , preexisting early osteoarthritis 26,[37][38][39][40][41] , a preoperative limp 26 , evidence of a labral tear 42 with pain in flexion and internal rotation 26 , and preoperative femoral head subluxation 25,41 . Postoperative lateral acetabular undercoverage 25,43 and excessive acetabular anteversion 25 can lead to persistent static overload of the lateral and/or the anterior acetabular rim with subsequent degeneration. Postoperative lateral overcoverage 20,25 and acetabular retroversion 25,44 have been associated with decreased hip survivorship because of iatrogenic postoperative femoroacetabular impingement between the overcorrected acetabulum and the proximal part of the femur.…”
