High serum luteinizing hormone levels induce ovarian delta4 cytochrome P450c17alpha down-regulation in hirsute women: complete effect on 17-hydroxylase and partial effect on 17,20-lyase

Abstract: It is well known that normal and mildly elevated luteinizing hormone (LH) levels induce increased activity of ovarian 17-hydroxylase and 17,20-lyase, the cytochrome P450c17a (P450) enzymes. This leads to increased ovarian 17a-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) and androstenedione production.
