High-resolution study of theBe9(He3,

Abstract: A high energy-resolution 9 Be( 3 He,t) 9 B charge-exchange reaction was performed around a scattering angle of 0• and at an intermediate incident energy of 140 MeV/nucleon for the study of precise Gamow-Teller (GT) transition strengths. The energy resolution of 30 keV allowed a precise deconvolution of the spectrum and the determination of angular distributions of cross-sections, excitation energies and decay widths. The GT strength of 10 states has been determined for the first time using the GT strength of t… Show more

“…Later, a dedicated experiment at Oak Ridge [54] did not find such a resonance, in the 7 Be+d channel. Then, Kirsebom & Davids [55] pointed out that the properties of the corresponding 9 B level had been measured [56]. When used in the reaction rate and subsequent BBN calculation, the 7 Li depletion was found insignificant [55] (<4%).…”

“…16 Be and 13 Li exhibit direct two-neutron decay since a sequential decay is energetically forbidden. Twoneutron radioactivity was observed in the case of 26 O ground state.…”

“…The role of 14 MeV neutrons in light element nucleosynthesis studied by Kohley et al [3]: 16 Be, 13 Li, 10 He and 26 O. The correlations of the 3-body decay for the 16 Be and 13 Li were extracted and demonstrated a strong enhancement between two neutrons.…”

“…Further, two recent experiments found evidence for a broad state in the mirror nucleus, 9 B, in this energy region through the 9 Be( 3 He,t) 9 B reaction [21,22]. Motivated by the previous published work, an additional state was introduced to the χ 2 minimisation routine and the data were refit.…”
