“…It has also been used in the study on the K␤ 2 L n M r lines of Zr, Mo, and Pd induced by proton and photon beams [39], the K␤ 2 L n M r lines of Zr, Nb, Mo, and Pd generated by electrons [40] and by C ions [43], and also the K␣ 1,2 L n M r , K␤ 1,3 L n M r [53], and K␤ 2 L n M r [41] lines of Zr, Mo, Pd, and Pr generated by He ions. Recently, the MCDF-MSAL method has been applied to the calculations of many different K x-ray diagram lines and their KL 1 M 0 satellite lines for Ta, Pb, and Th.…”

“…Then, high-resolution spectra were measured for the K␤ 2 lines of Zr, Nb, Mo, Pd, and Pr induced by various kinds of projectiles [39][40][41][42][43]. Although the K␤ 2 M 1 x-ray satellites were mostly resolved, reliable values of p M were obtained due to the decomposition of the experimental spectra into the K␤ 2 diagram and satellite components which were constructed theoretically using the MCDF calculations.…”

“…The multiple ionization in collision processes has been the subject of numerous studies based on the interpretation of the K-, L-and M-X-ray spectra (Carlen et al, 1992(Carlen et al, , 1994Ludziejewski et al, 1995Ludziejewski et al, , 1996Herren et al, 1998;Kravchuk et al, 2001;Rzadkiewicz et al, 2003;Czarnota et al, 2003a,b). Recently, thorium Ma 1;2 (M 5 N 6;7 ) and Mb 1 (M 4 N 6 ) X-ray line spectra of a very complex origin excited by an impact of energetic oxygen and neon ions have been measured (Czarnota et al, 2003b) by means of a high-resolution von Hamos crystal spectrometer having the energy resolution of about 1 eV.…”

“…His research has included the investigation of the Kα 1,2 L n M 0 x-ray lines of Pd [41] (the first systematic theoretical study on their structure for such a heavy atom) and Mo [42] (where the reproduction of the measured spectra [31] was achieved due to a novel model based on a sum of the Kα 1,2 L n M 0 bands), the Kα 1,2 L 0 M r lines of Mo, Pd and Ho [43], the Kα 1,2 L 1 M r lines of Pd [44] (the first theoretical study on their structure) and the Kβ 1,3 L 0 M r lines of Mo, Pd and La [45] (the first systematic investigation of the Kβ lines for medium-Z and heavy elements). His studies have been helpful in realizing the complex origin of the K [42,[46][47][48][49][50][51][52], L [53] and M [54] x-ray spectra of multiply ionized atoms and in the planning of various experiments involving collision processes. Part of Polasik's results has been successfully used in the analysis of experimental Kα 1,2 L n M r and Kβ 1,3 L n M r x-ray spectra of Mo [46], Pd and La [47] generated by O ions, where the first way to extract the M-shell ionization probability per electron (p M ) from complex K x-ray spectra induced by heavy ions was proposed.…”
