High-Quality Cs3Cu2I5@PMMA Scintillator Films Assisted by Multiprocessing for X-ray Imaging

Abstract: In recent years, novel metal halide scintillators have shown great application potential due to their tunable emission wavelength, high X-ray absorption, and high luminescence efficiency. However, poor stability and complex device packaging remain key issues for metal halide scintillators, making it difficult to achieve high-resolution and flexible X-ray imaging applications. To address the above issues, a multiprocessing strategy was introduced to prepare Cs3Cu2I5@PMMA scintillator films for long-term stable … Show more

“…This value is lower than the dose rate required for X-ray diagnosis (5.5 μGy s –1 ) . The detection limit of m PC-M@PLA thin film is comparable to the values reported recently for lead-based perovskites CsPbBr 3 -DMSO (564 n Gy s –1 ), CsPbBr 3 –CsPb 2 Br 5 (1.130 μGy s –1 ), and CsPbBr 3 @PMMA (0.12 μGy s –1 ) . A plastic capsule with a metal spring inside was first placed on the background of PC-M@PLA.…”

“…Although both composite films emit red light, the stability and emission intensity of PC-M@PMMA are lower than that of PC-M@PLA (Figure 5a). This may be due to the fact that the carbonyl groups locate on the side chain of PMMA, resulting in a large free volume in PMMA. , As a result, oxygen easily penetrates the polymer, affecting the stability of PC-M@PMMA. On the contrary, the CO in the main chains of PLA directly interacts with the amino group on the surface of perovskites through hydrogen bonding.…”

“…However, it is worth noting that exceeding the optimal content of PMMA may result in a decline in the overall content of crystallized Cs 3 Cu 2 I 5 NCs within the film. 24 Consequently, this reduction in the NCs content directly correlates with a decrease in the emission intensity of the film (Figure 2f). In addition, when the content of PMMA is further increased, significant phase separation becomes evident in the TEM image and photograph of the Cs 3 Cu 2 I 5 @PVDF/50% PMMA film under UV light (Figure S5).…”

“…Copper-based halides have emerged as an alternative to CsPbBr 3 due to their efficient radioluminescence (RL) and nontoxicity. Cs 3 Cu 2 Cl 5 was one of the most competitive candidates for X-ray scintillators, on account of its near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and negligible reabsorption. Zhou et al synthesized submicron Cs 3 Cu 2 Cl 5 crystals and nanocrystals (NCs) via microwave and hot-injection methods, respectively. , The PL QY of submicrometer crystals (72.4%) was lower than that of NCs (94.6%), while the spatial resolution was much higher (20 lp/mm; NCs:9.6 lp/mm).…”
