High-precision measurements ofπpelastic differential cross sections in the second resonance region

Abstract: Cross sections for π ± p elastic scattering have been measured to high precision, for beam momenta between 800 and 1240 MeV/c, by the EPECUR Collaboration, using the ITEP proton synchrotron. The data precision allows comparisons of the existing partial-wave analyses (PWA) on a level not possible previously. These comparisons imply that updated PWA are required.

“…The signal of its isospin partners was claimed to be present in the γN → ηπN by Graal [63], however, it was not confirmed by CBELSA/TAPS [64] and A2@MAMI groups [65,66]. Together with this state, a narrow structure at 1720 MeV close to ωp threshold was also observed in γp → γp [67], quasifree γn → ηn [38] and high-precision πp elastic data from EPECUR Collaboration [68,69]. Whether these states correlate with each other is under investigation.…”
