High Performance Single-Phase Single-Stage Grid-Tied PV Current Source Inverter Using Cascaded Harmonic Compensators

Abstract: In this paper, a single-phase single-stage photovoltaic (PV) grid-tied system is investigated. The conventional pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage source inverter (VSI) is replaced by a PWM current source inverter (CSI) for its voltage boosting capabilities, inherent short-circuit proof and higher reliability features. Modeling, design, and analysis of the considered CSI are presented altogether with enhanced proposed control loops aided with a modified PWM technique. DC-link even current harmonics are common… Show more

“…The literature has several references for Grid-Connected Inverters (GCI) using PR controllers. Few studies specify the process of designing the PR controller [22][23][24]. All specified research is appropriate and highlights PR efficacy.…”

“…There are many points of view from which inverters are classified, one of the essential classifications is made according to their power supply. In this way, three types of inverters are established-Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) [15], Current Source Inverter (CSI) [16] and Z-Source Inverter (ZSI) [17]. As a summary, the main classifications of these power converters are presented in Figure 2.…”

“…A suitable alternative solution to mitigate the environmental degradation on the planet is the use of renewable energy sources [1,2]. Nowadays, solar and wind energy are some of the most attractive renewable energy sources for electrical energy production [3]. However, to correctly accomplish the connection of this type of renewable production to the electrical grid, it is necessary to use a grid-tied inverter [4].…”
