“…The specific energy of the Cell#1 has been estimated from the expression E = ½ C d V 2 , used for conventional EDLCs, whereas specific energy for Cell#2 (having nonlinear discharge characteristics) has been estimated from E=(iVdt)/(2×m) . The maximum and effective specific power ( P max and P eff ) have been evaluated byPmax=V2/(8m×ESR)Peff=E/tdischargewhere ESR is the equivalent series resistance of the cells, evaluated using the expression ESR = Δ V /2 i . Typical values of specific energy ( E ) and maximum specific power ( P max ) have been found to be ≈11.8 and ≈26.1 Wh kg −1 , and ≈6.3 and ≈18 kW kg −1 , respectively, for Cell#1 (without redox additive) and Cell#2 (with redox additive), evaluated at current density ≈0.84 A g −1 .…”

“…The activated carbon powder, used as active electrode material for EDLC fabrication, was derived from biowaste peanut shells. Details of preparation procedure are given by us elsewhere . To prepare the EDLC‐electrodes, a mixture of AC powder, graphite powder, and binder (PVdF‐HFP) in the ratio of 80:10:10 (w/w) was thoroughly grounded with NMP in an agate mortar pestle to form a homogenous slurry.…”
