High-Performance Optical PET Analysis via Non-Isothermal Crystallization Kinetics

Abstract: The optical properties of PET have always been a problem that related research has been trying to break through. In the previous work, we modified PET by adding PSLDH (phosphate antioxidant) to obtain a PET film with excellent optical properties. Through non-isothermal crystallization kinetic analysis of modified PET, we hope to verify the conclusion of optical properties by the effect of PSLDH addition on the crystallization properties of PET. PET and PSLDH modified PET were tested by DSC at different cooling… Show more

“…The commonly used methods for calculating ΔE are Kissinger method 47 and the Friedman method. 48,49 Kissinger method is not accurate for cooling processes, 50 so Friedman method is a more appropriate choice, as following equation (10):where X T is the relative crystallinity at T, dX T /dt is the instantaneous crystallisation rate at T, T X is the temperature at X. Both dX T /dt and T X are functions of φ. f(X) is a function judging the reaction mechanism.…”

“…In polymer processing, such as spinning, injection moulding and extrusion, was a non-isothermal crystallisation process that would impact on the properties of the final products. [31][32][33] So the choice of non-isothermal crystallisation was more relevant to the actual production environment. Subsequently studying the effects of different cooling rates on the crystallisation, kinetics and activation energy of the melt crystallisation were investigated to find the optimum addition ratio of THFDM, with the aim of laying the foundation for future series production.…”

“…However, these nucleating agents are not compatible with the PET matrix, making it difficult to disperse uniformly in the matrix. To overcome these issues, organic-inorganic hybrid nanoparticles, such as quantum dots [16], polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) [17,18], and layered double hydroxide (LDHs) [19,20] and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) [21,22] are being researched as new types of nucleating agents due to their controllable structure and excellent compatibility.…”
