“…It has been before that Fe 3 O 4 has a better H 2 S uptake performance relative to Fe 2 O 3 , 59 and iron has also been proposed to be used as a successful H 2 S sorbent. 60,61 No iron signal was seen in the XRD pattern of sample CM5 after H 2 S uptake, which also points toward the high reactivity of iron formed in the composite. We see this positive synergy, where the net composite effect is higher than the sum of the individual effects, happen in a relatively short range of iron content on OPC, which happens to be where samples CM4 and CM5 lie.…”

“…Various oxides or metals can be dispersed in the carbon aerogel matrix to design and tailor the chemistry toward the catalytic reactions. Therefore, carbon aerogels are frequently studied as an outstanding support material for catalyst , , , , , , . For example, Liu et al fabricated CeVO 4 /3D reduced graphene oxide aerogel/BiVO 4 (CeVO 4 /RGO/BiVO 4 ) ternary composites and used them as photocatalysts for tetracycline (TC) degradation under visible light irradiation.…”

“…carbon aerogels are considered as an attractive support for HGD catalysts due to their excellent physicochemical property as well as their stability under high temperature and no need for any other pretreatment. Tian et al fabricated a desulfurizer with Fe nanoparticles and carbon aerogels and investigated its H 2 S removal efficiency in hot coal gas. The characterization results indicated that Fe NPs were highly dispersed on the surface of carbon aerogels, and the resultant Fe/CA‐700 exhibited a high sulfur adsorption capacity of 12.54 g/100 g in hot coal gas under the 600 °C.…”

“…Carbon materials [ 14 , 15 , 16 ], natural aluminosilicates [ 17 , 18 ] semi-coke [ 19 , 20 ], nonmetallic oxides [ 21 , 22 , 23 ] and other materials [ 24 ] were studied as the complex, multicomponent H 2 S sorbents. Among impregnated sorbents, active phases often consist of simple metal oxides [ 21 , 22 ].…”
