“…In one of our earlier works, where amorphous nano-boron was used, the grain boundary density intentionally increased resulting in a huge boost in self-field J c . In addition, the f p (h) peak position was around 0.17, which signified full responsibility of grain boundaries for vortex pinning [19]. On the other hand, when carbon-encapsulated boron was used, the peak position shifted to 0.23, likely due to defects and strain created by carbon substitution [20].…”

“…Of all the dopants, carbon showed the highest increment due to its substitution into boron sites. In our recent studies, we used a commercially prepared amorphous nano-boron precursor, which resulted in huge J c improvement [19]. This study showed that the boron precursor morphology hugely influences the final microstructure of sintered MgB 2 bulk and has a strong dependence on grain boundary pinning.…”

“…On the other hand, concerning the relationship between EDX and XRD determination, it is possible to see that most of the EDX values overtake the corresponding XRD ones. This can be explained simply by both the lower accuracy of EDX results and by the lower atomic number of B that favors the emission of Auger electrons over characteristic X-rays, leading to some underestimation of the B content with respect to Mg [ 50 , 51 , 52 ]. In this regard, the Mg:B weight ratio determined by XRD phase volumetric extraction can be considered more accurate than the surface-sensitive EDX measurement, which can just give a semi-quantitative confirmation of XRD results.…”

“…0D boron nanomaterials can be used as specic precursors for synthesis of functionalized materials. 86,169,[180][181][182][184][185][186] T c and resistivity. The studies facilitate further development of well-dened MgB 2 materials toward instance nanowires for high-energy and superconductor applications.…”

“…The studies facilitate further development of well-dened MgB 2 materials toward instance nanowires for high-energy and superconductor applications. 181,182,185,186 Li et al reported the incorporation of Cu 2 Se with carboncoated BNPs, accompanied by homogeneous distribution of Cu/C/B interfaces, increase of the Seebeck coefficient and decrease of thermal conductivity. 136 The incorporation treatment remarkably improves both mid-and high-temperature zT in Cu 2 Se.…”
