High loading of uniformly dispersed Pt nanoparticles on polydopamine coated carbon nanotubes and its application in simultaneous determination of dopamine and uric acid

Abstract: Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were homogeneously covered with a bio-functional polydopamine (PDOP) by a simple dip-coating approach in mild basic solution. Then, uniformly dispersed and highly loaded platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) were deposited on MWCNT@PDOP by a mild reductant, and were characterized by transmission electron microscopy and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. “…PDA coatings are most of the time performed using the procedure developed by Lee et al [12] in which, dopamine spontaneously polymerizes at a slightly basic pH, which leads to the coating of the immersed surfaces with PDA [13,14]. Among others, it has been applied for sensing, [15][16][17][18] for the passive dispensing of aqueous solutions, [19] for making graphitic transparent stretchable electrodes, [20] and it can moreover be used as a platform for the decoration of surfaces with NPs [21][22][23][24][25][26]. Nam et al previously described the sensitizing of TiO 2 NPs with PDA and used this phenomenon for fabricating DSSCs, [27] but so far no research has been done on anodized TiO 2 NTs coated with PDA.…”
